Aart Johannes “John” VanBruinessen, February 14, 1947 – September 29, 2020
Our deepest gratitude for his work here at WCRC for being the first to bring us online, and share his love and gift of website building with us.
Our Website History
As far back as the 80’s John VanBruinessen loved working with computers. The local florist from Chesterville Ontario may have started out with a Commodore 64.
He spent long hours learning how to program and use the wonderful machines to put together an extravagant family tree. He taught himself different programming languages and as they became available he learned how to use the new software options.
It was like a giant puzzle to him and he loved putting it together. As the 90’s came along with its Javascript and web pages the internet started to grow and John saw what a great way to advertise this would be.
He learned how to make websites himself and created one for his family owned flower shop. Other flower shops liked his work and asked him to create websites for their shops as well. In the end John had created over 25 websites.
His love for the Lord and his involvement in Williamsburg CRC led him to create a website for the church as well. All on his own, with no one asking him to, he created a well functioning site that kept the congregation informed until after his passing in 2020.
It is for this reason that we would like to acknowledge John and all of the hard work he put in over the years. The amount of knowledge that he put into the webpage and the words that he used were obviously inspired and for that reason the website you see today contains a lot of the words John used to write the original pages.
"Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it."
